Ningana Enterprises Inc. (NEI), is pleased to announce that the Older Carers of People with a Disability Program is now operational.
NEI’s CEO Fiona Durham, says that from June 1 2008 NEI will be able to provide respite services for older parent carers. This service will support parents aged 60 years and over and Indigenous parents 50 and over and their children aged over 25.
Activities will include education courses and recreational activities. “We intend to work closely with families to provide respite service for carers in this target group that allow people to have a much needed break from their caring responsibilities and offer their adult children with a disability, recreational and skill development programs outside of the family home.” Services will be centre based and hours available will be Monday to Friday 9am – 3pm.
NEI provides supported employment, supported accommodation, Community Participation and Transition to Work programs and is currently extending its already extensive disability support services. These new services aim to meet the needs of older parents requiring respite options for their adult children that allow them a much needed break from their 24/7 caring responsibilities.
