NEI Residential Services
What is a residential support service?
This service operates similarly to a group home however staff to resident ratios are 1:7 for most shifts with additional staff for some afternoon and weekend shifts.
NEI Residential services have a staff member sleepover and be available should residents require support during the night.
What does this service do?
This service provides accommodation support to PWD in NEI’s home. This home is situated in the community close to shops and services.
Each resident has their own room which they may furnish as they choose.
Residents are supported by NEI’s staff in all aspects of their home life as each individual requires.
These individual needs may include:
1. Social Skills – Support in relationships, self-esteem, communication, self advocacy, decision making and choice, rights and responsibilities.
2. Money Management – Support in budgeting, bill paying and banking.
3. Relaxation and Leisure Activities – Support in accessing social and sporting activities and holidays.
4. Household Living – Support in cooking, cleaning, shopping and personal safety.
5. Personal Life – Support in making and keeping medical appointments, self care, healthy eating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
6. Community Access – Support to access the community according to their individual needs.
7. Vocational/Employment – Community workers will assist the service users to maintain their lifestyle to enable them to access their vocation/employment.
Who can access this service?
PWD who require moderate levels of support to live in their community.
Applicants must have suitable day placement from 8.30 am-3.00 pm as the home is not staffed during these hours
Fees do apply to this service.
Due to the layout of the building, NEI residential service is currently unable to support residents with mobility issues or those in wheelchairs.
