What is Community Living Service?
Community living is a service provided by NEI to PWD who require support to live in their own homes. Staff provide drop-in support to assist PWD with living skills and community access opportunities.
What does this Service do?
This service provides support to people with a disability who live in their own homes.
Service users are supported by NEI in all aspects of their home life as each individual requires.
These individual needs may include:
1. Social Skills – Support in relationships, self-esteem, communication, self advocacy, decision making and choice, rights and responsibilities.
2. Money Management – Support in budgeting, bill paying and banking.
3. Relaxation and Leisure Activities – Support in accessing social and sporting activities and holidays.
4. Household Living – Support in cooking, cleaning, shopping and personal safety.
5. Personal Life – Support in making and keeping medical appointments, self care, healthy eating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
6. Community Access – Support to access the community according to their individual needs.
7. Vocational/Employment – Community workers will assist the service users to maintain their lifestyle to enable them to access their vocation/employment.
Who can access this service?
PWD who require some level of support to maintain their independent living arrangements.
Applicants must have appropriate funding through DADHC or similar or be able to self-fund their service.
