Our History

Our History
Ningana Enterprises Inc. has been employing and supporting people with a disability for over forty years. In October 1965, Aid Retarded Persons (Riverina Branch) was established.

We have progressed through a number of name changes before adopting Ningana Enterprises Inc. in 1987. The name ‘Ningana’ was chosen for its aboriginal meaning, ‘meeting place’.

Our Head Office in Kooyoo St, a few minutes from the heart of Griffith’s CBD, served as NEI’s production heart until early 2001.

NEI Packaging
In 2001, a major shift in our business occurred. Ningana Enterprises moved into assembly, labelling and packaging to meet the needs of the large local wine industry and drip irrigation companies serving horticulture.

We moved to warehouse premises in Lenehan Road, an established industrial area. At the same time, a truck was acquired for pick up and delivery of client’s product.

Our organisation undertook a successful re-structure, allowing for sustainable growth well into the 21st century. NEI Packaging was the name given to our commercial arm at this time.

NEETA & Impressions
Prior to 2001, employees made wooden garden furniture, operated a gardening and mowing service and staffed Impressions, an ironing service. Many Griffith people became familiar with Ningana’s employees through these activities.

Growing OH & S issues and decreasing demand wound back these services whilst the decision was made to put all our energies into labelling & packaging.

Impressions Ironing Service recently closed it's operations in Kooyoo Street premises.  Employees have transitioned into other roles in the organisation and NEI Packaging has become the focus of our employment and training for people with a disability.
